Verified ReviewerAcknowledgment for helpfulness
T/C with Asher in reservations today: she was helpful, knowledgeable in making my reservations for New York and Washington DC. This was a positive experience with vacation club reservations compared to previously where reps were difficult to understand, did not provide/offer clear info on the hotel, resort or point usage.
Also, in the past, telephone connections were BAD! I was not able to provide the customer survey at the end of today's booking. The connection was cut off.
In addition to improving customer services (training for some), telephone connections need improvement. One last thing, the vacation club site for multiple reservations was NOT user-friendly at all.

Verified ReviewerTime share not what they promised
The idea of owning a Marriott timeshare seems appealing initially luxurious getaways and exclusive perks. However, the reality?
Marriott has not been helpful at all when it comes to canceling my timeshare. It's not what I expected. What you think will be exclusive vacations quickly turn out to be full of restrictions, with the so-called "priority booking" being a myth. Plus, these places aren't as private as they say, often open to the public, which means you're not getting the exclusive experience you thought you were.
On top of that, the maintenance fees keep going up, making it an expensive dream. And as your family grows and changes, being stuck with the same vacation spots doesn't make sense anymore.
We've even tried to cancel our timeshare because it's just not worth it, but getting help from Marriott has been impossible. It's time to think differently about vacation ownership something that's more flexible, doesn't break the bank, and actually lets you relax without worrying about the next bill or being tied down to the same old places.
- Good product
- Not exclusive as they promise
- Never can get the dates you need
Preferred solution: Release from time share ownership
User's recommendation: don't purchase thime share

Verified ReviewerTrapped
Invested over $40K in points. Now the points are worthless.
Marriott will not buy them back, and Marriott makes it virtually impossible to sell. Including fees, I have about $70K in the program. I would have been better served using the money for something else.
MVC exists only to serve the sales force and MVC. The customer is always last.
- Nice accommodations
- Difficult to book
- Too expensive
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Don't buy

Sold points on Red Week but MVC exercised their first right of refusal. So MVC buys my points back at deep discount and then is able to sell to new customers at an inflated price. Total scam.
Purchased points, and now I am trapped and cannot get out with a huge loss. Tried to sell on Red Week, but Marriott makes it impossible to compete with them.
While the places are nice, it is not worth it in the long run. Better to spend the annual fee booking your own vacation.
Program exists to enrich sales staff. Points are unlimited, so there is no scarcity.
User's recommendation: Don't buy points
Oven mitts/hot pot holders
I am still disappointed about the hot pot holder issue which is a nonresponse.
I have been unable to get the above item at Marriott's Grande Vista. Housekeeping keeps giving me silicone mats and I do not think the silicone mats are designed for use when removing hot items from the oven.
The silicone mats are for protecting a surface such as a table from a hot container.
I have never had this issue in the many years in a Marriott Timeshare. I would have purchased them when buying groceries if I had know that the real item was not available on this property.
Time share inquiry
Poor customer service. Unwillingness to work with us to accommodate getting to a timeshare seminar. We are harassed every single time we stay here but now that we actually need to go to help fix a situation, all we get is someone rude and not accommodating.

Verified ReviewerGreed- maintenance fees have tripled in the past two years
I was not too smart when I purchased a timeshare through Marriott vacation club. I thought their program would work for me however over the few years the maintenance fees have almost tripled in price.
It isnt bad enough that they charge over $600 for a monthly payment for the Timeshare but then they throw on maintenance fees that are always due December 1. The total amount for the 2024 maintenance, which I was blown away, was over 3,300.00. They wanted all of that money by December 1 and you didnt get your bill and know what your price was until November 1 so this company gave me one month in order to gather all that money!!! I made a really really bad decision by buying into this.
and I am looking into getting rid of them by hiring an attorney, but I wanted to put
it out there that the Marriott vacation club maintenance fees are way too high. Im gonna include a picture of my bill and please keep in mind that this bill was sent to me after I made a few hundred dollar payment. if you are looking for a timeshare dont go through this company because they dont care how you feel or whats gonna happen with you. They only care about how much money theyre raking in.
My suggestion to anybody is never buy a timeshare.
You can go on a really nice vacation for just let alone, maintenance fees. If anybody knows how to get out of this timeshare and contract, please let me know.
- Charge way too much and give owners way too little
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: Do not go through Marriott vacation club in fact, don’t even buy a timeshare at all
Transfer points
We never got connected to a live person. We were waiting, after going through the preliminary steps, and the call went straight to the response questionnaire.
This happened twice. So we tried other phone numbers from your web site, to no avail. Finally on the third try, we got ahold of a person.
Frustrating. .

I am a Marriott ownwr for 28 year and its impossible to get a phone number to make the reservation could you please give me a Numbers to call
I canceled my encore contract within 15 days of purchase
I already have a timeshare with Marriott in south Florida. Therefore I dont see the need to buy encore for $1599.00; Therefore I canceled the encore. I was willing to transfer to a different location but was not allowed to.
- Everything is overbooked
- Dont buy their own timeshare back
Preferred solution: Full refund
Took money but no email or reference of reservation
Never ever trust Marriott promotion on vacation packages. I was offered a vacation package and after making the reservation, they is no email reference sent or any communication about my reservation but amount has been deducted from my account.
When I called to get some answers I have been transferred three times and left on the call with really loud sound playing for more than a hour and no response or anything from other side. Give me my money back

Verified Reviewer | Sun City, ArizonaLike the mafia, you can never get out of this family.
My 96-year-old uncle has been a member of Marriott Vacation Club for longer than I can remember. As one might imagine, he prefers to stay close to home and not travel any longer.
In fact, it has been years since he has enjoyed the Marriott properties. Now, with years of points sitting wasted, the family simply wishes to exit. Unfortunately, Marriott is allowing these sharks to extract another pound of flesh: $1,023.85 simply to exit.
Where is the common sense and decency? Is this really how Marriott wishes to treat our super senior?
